クリスチャンの背景で育った私は、論理的に納得できない神学的概念にいつも悩んでいました。イエスが神であるという考えや三位一体の教義は混乱を招き、宗教指導者に答えを求めると「ただ盲目的に従うだけだ」と言われました。このことが深く胸を痛めました―理解せずに何かを従うとはどういうことでしょうか？ 誤った道に進んでいないか、どのように確認できるのでしょうか？

真理への探求は私をさまざまな道へと導き、イスラム教が数多くの理由から際立ちました。メディアでの否定的な描写にも関わらず、実際には世界で最も急速に拡大している宗教だと知りました。また、私のお気に入りのスポーツ選手、ムハンマド・アリとマイク・タイソンがイスラム徒だったことを知り、「本当に悪く描かれているなら、なぜこんなに多くの人々が受け入れ続けるのだろう？」と疑問に思いました。

約一年間、オンライン記事や教育ビデオを通じてイスラム教について調べました。その後、経済的困難・失恋・学業の挫折という厳しい時期が訪れ、私は完全に迷い込み、暗い考えに圧倒されました。まさに最も落ち込んだその瞬間、イスラム教を思い出し、コーランを購入することに決めました。

コーランを読むと、すべてが意味を成し始めました―明確な一神教のメッセージ、論理的な説明、そして深遠なる知恵。私はモスクへ行き、人と話す必要があると悟りました。最初の二回目は、モスクが空っぽで落胆し、諦めかけました。しかし、離れる前に心から「アッラー、サインをください」と真剣なデュア（祈り）を捧げました。

その瞬間、車が停まり、サジドという名のムスリム兄弟が降りました。彼の親切さと私の質問に答える意欲はまさに必要だったものでした。その後数週間、イマームから学び続け、約一か月後にはシャハーダ（信仰告白）を行いイスラム教に改宗しました。

この旅は忍耐、アッラーのタイミングへの信頼、そして真摯な求道の重要性について美しい教訓を示しています。クルアーンではこう言われています：「もしも私の僕たちが私に関して尋ねるなら、私は近くにいる。私は祈り主が呼びかけるとき、その呼びかけに応える。」（2:186） 私の経験は、心を開いて真剣に導きを求めれば、アッラーは想像もできない形で応えてくださることを示しています。真理への道は挑戦があるかもしれませんが、忍耐とアッラーへの信頼を持って進むなら、その目的地は旅路そのもの以上に価値があります。

I want to share a journey of spiritual discovery that many can relate to. Growing up in a Christian background, I always struggled with certain theological concepts that didn’t make logical sense to me. The idea of Jesus being God and the concept of the Trinity felt confusing, and when I sought answers from religious leaders, I was told to simply follow blindly. This troubled me deeply – how can one follow something without understanding? How do we know we’re not being misled?

This search for truth led me to explore different paths, and Islam stood out for several reasons. Despite the negative portrayal in media, I noticed that Islam is actually the fastest growing religion in the world. I also discovered that two of my favorite athletes, Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson, were Muslims. This made me wonder – if Islam is truly as negative as portrayed, why are so many people embracing it?

For about a year, I researched Islam through various sources – reading online and watching educational videos. Then came a difficult period in my life where I faced financial struggles, heartbreak, and academic challenges. I felt completely lost and overwhelmed by dark thoughts. It was during this lowest point that I remembered Islam and decided to buy a Quran.

Reading the Quran was a transformative experience. Everything started making sense – the clear monotheistic message, the logical explanations, and the profound wisdom. I knew I needed to visit a mosque and speak with someone. My first two attempts were discouraging as I found the mosque empty, and I nearly gave up. But before leaving for good, I made a sincere dua – “Allah, please give me a sign.”

At that very moment, a car pulled up and a Muslim brother named Sajid stepped out. His kindness and willingness to answer all my questions was exactly what I needed. Over the following weeks, I continued learning from the imam, and about a month later, I took my shahada and embraced Islam.

This journey teaches us beautiful lessons about patience, trust in Allah’s timing, and the importance of sincere seeking. Allah says in the Quran: “And when My servants ask you concerning Me, indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me” (2:186). My experience shows that when we sincerely seek guidance with an open heart, Allah responds in ways we could never imagine. The path to truth may have challenges, but with patience and trust in Allah, the destination is always worth the journey.
